CRM software is vital for any serious business that wants to ensure it stays organized and relevant to the needs of its clients, while at the same time successfully expand and serve and even higher number of customers. However, since there are so many CRM software options to choose from, most of the times people are going to feel very confused in regards to the one that’s right for their business. Well, after a lot of research, I've discovered that a lot of people use either Infusionsoft or Ontraport, so in order to get to the bottom of which one of the 2 is the best, we're going to compare both of them and see which one comes up on top.
Oh, and one more thing: don’t expect to see QuickBooks integration or export in Ontraport. If you really need this functionality, then go with Infusionsoft.
As a campaign builder, when you’ll take a closer look at Infusionsoft, you’re going to realize that it has a pretty nice drag and drop interface that is visual and really enjoyable to use. But if you’d ever try to build a campaign on Ontraport, you’ll immediately realize just how difficult doing so can be. And if you thought that things would improve in the latest version, then you’ve been disappointed, since everything still looks pretty disjointed. How come?
Well, if you want to build your campaign, then you need to go in multiple places to create all of your campaign’s elements. After that, you’re also going to be forced to document outside of the application, which is time consuming and frustrating. Because of that, Ontraport isn’t the best choice for building a campaign, since it feels more like the way Infusionsoft was two years ago.
It’s a bit disappointing to see that Ontraport only offers basic order forms if you want to sell your products or services, while Infusionsoft offers a completely functional shopping cart solution. While it may shine in this department, Infusionsoft doesn’t have built in one click upsells, while Ontraport does. But have no worries though, since you can integrate third party apps to solve this. As for split testing, Infusionsoft lacks this functionality, while Ontraport offers it out of the box.
BUILT IN POSTCARDS
Did you know that Ontraport features built in postcards? In fact, if your job is to build postcards, then you can easily design them within the software and then send them out in a one off scenario as part of a broadcast and even as part of a campaign. However, when it comes to Infusionsoft, you won’t be able to create postcards unless you integrate third party apps within the software. It’s a bit disappointing, but hey, at least you can still do it eventually.
Comparing Infusionsoft vs Ontraport, you’ll realize that when it comes to personalized URLs, you’ll prefer Ontraport and that is because it has personalized URLs. Because of this helpful feature, you can easily get URLs in print media, such as magazine ads, direct mail and so forth. While some people think they would also come in handy in E-mail, I’m personally a bit reluctant about that, but I am not going to disprove their usefulness in this.
On the other hand, when it comes to Infusionsoft, it doesn’t have this feature yet. Luckily, there are third party apps that you can integrate with it in order get your much needed personalized URLs.
Membership levels are very important for those with membership websites and in this regard, it seems that using Infusionsoft provides a much faster and easier way to apply a tag for each content item. Unfortunately, the same thing cannot be said about Ontraport, which makes things more difficult for you. So if you’d like to offer certain content to people holding a specific membership type, each item of content in Ontraport will need to have a specific membership level assigned.
Also, if you want to set up discounts or promotions, you won’t get that with Ontraport, but Infusionsoft offers plenty of flexibility in this department. Besides discounts and promotions, you can even offer free trials based on your specific criteria.
BUILT IN SMS
If you want to send out an SMS with Infusionsoft, then you should know that you can’t do it right away, since you first of all need to get some third party apps and integrate them with the software. Luckily, the latest version of Ontraport has built in SMS, so you can easily send 2-way short messages from within the application itself.
When using Ontraport, don’t expect to benefit from any type of reporting aside from a really basic dashboard. On the other hand, Infusionsoft fares a bit better, so you can easily get the data you need if you know what how to alter the data and more important, know what you’re looking for.
If you were expecting Infusionsoft to have built in WordPress websites, then you’re going to be disappointed to hear it doesn’t, but you can use third party apps to get this functionality. On the other end of the bar, Ontraport offers it out of the box, allowing you to easily track your webpage hits and then take decisions based on the activity of your website.
Lastly, when it comes to content publishing, Infusionsoft won’t provide you with this functionality, but rumors have it that it’s going to soon be implemented. And as you already expected Ontraport does make it possible for users to package their campaign content and then use the OATS program to import it into someone else’s account.
So which one is the best CRM software you should use? Honestly, both of them are really powerful and great products and selecting one over the other is all a matter of personal preference in regards to the type of company culture you favor most.
While Infusionsoft has been on the market for several years and therefore has a great market share, Ontraport is packed with useful features, such as PURLs, postcards, but also simple membership functions and WordPress integration. At the end of the day, your choice of using one over the other is purely based on your needs, the type of business you’re running and of course, your goals.
